My second project, videoreadeR, scans a user-prompted directory for videos in the MP4 and AVI formats, and uses FFmpeg to pre-process the videos into a single JPG frame taken from the start of each video. Using optical character recognition (Tesseract) in R, operational data from the bottom of trail camera image is extracted, and output into a tab delineated CSV file (in the format of our lab data sheet)

It is meant to be distributable, and is currently configured for Browning camera proportions and Gonder lab projects, but can be modified to fit different types of devices and databases. If you would like access to it. or help configuring it for your project, please contact me.
